| KATHLEEN EDWARDS ANNOUNCES HALIFAX SHOW SATURDAY, AUG. 1 – LIGHT HOUSE ARTS CENTRE |
Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m www.sonicconcerts.com![]() Photo credit: Mike Dunn (Halifax, NS) – Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and performer Kathleen Edwards will return to Halifax for a performance at the Light House Arts Centre on Saturday, Aug. 1, in support of her latest album, Billionaire. Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m. at sonicconcerts.com.Evoking her debut, Failer, Edwards’ Billionaire was released this past August, while she performed three sold-out outdoor shows at the Shore Club in Hubbards alongside Matt Mays and The Sheepdogs. The 10-song album is full of her trademark lyrical sharpness and unflinching observations and was produced by Jason Isbell and Gena Johnson.Celebrated as one of the forebears of modern alt-country and Americana music, Edwards is beloved by fans and fellow musicians and praised by The New York Times for her “droll, observant and unsparing tone that is all her own. In her best lines, Edwards has the conversational vernacular and emotional eloquence of a great short-story writer.”Since debuting in 2003, Edwards has released five albums, including 2020’s Total Freedom—her first after stepping away from music for almost a decade. Released to overwhelming acclaim, with coverage in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and more, Pitchfork called it “a creative breakthrough, written solely for the thrill of discovery,” while Rolling Stone declared it “devastatingly great.”Earlier this year, Edwards also released a covers EP featuring special guests Isbell, Bahamas, and Daniel Tashian, including renditions of Isbell’s “Traveling Alone,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Human Touch,” The Flaming Lips’ “Feeling Yourself Disintegrate,” Tom Petty’s “Crawling Back to You,” and more. She has been nominated for multiple JUNO and Americana Awards and, in 2012, received the SOCAN Songwriting Prize. This show is restricted to ages 19+, and valid ID is required for entry. General admission standing and reserved stadium seating tickets will be available. Doors open at 7 p.m. Showtime is 8 p.m. |
